Crane's Foundry in Ipswich closed around 2008 with the loss of around 250 jobs with the operation being moved to industrial sites overseas, following a decision to cut costs.

Crane Fluid has been moving it's manufacturing process away from Ipswich, where it used to employ some 700 workers, to cheaper foreign labour markets for a number of years and has now closed all it's production processes here. Of the 286 staff currently in Ipswich, 210 worked in production-related positions.

The Ipswich facility manufactured a variety of valves and fittings used for controlling the flow of liquids and natural gas.

This sites was huge to say the least, sadly though, much of it has been damaged by vandals. This was one of the biggest and best industrial premises we've covered totally a truly massive 44 acres in all and an awesome 4 hours of first rate exploring.
